Enjoy a Cycling Trip Around the Dingle Peninsula

During the summer, cycling can be a superb way of getting around and seeing the Peninsula. Our coast is a lot more mountainous than most of Ireland and so the topography varies from flat roads to high hills. The Dingle area is a perfect cycling destination with its beautiful scenery and varied terrain. By referring to maps, cyclists can choose the type of terrain they wish to tour while in Dingle. For the adventurous there are off road routes and tough mountain climbs, ideal for those that exercise regularly and have a good level of off-road biking experience. There are no purpose built cycle lanes here or any type of signposted cycle paths through the country, as found in some countries. But there are miles and miles of quiet country lanes, and rarely used "bothareens" (little roads) where the biggest obstruction might be a herd of cattle or sheep! Cyclists Map of West Kerry by Laurence Jones is the perfect guide for cycling enthusiasts detailing trails, roads and outlining sites of interest. Available in most book shops and some post offices on the Peninsula.
